Every time I clean, I find this hat box in my closet that has the most fabulous two hats in it! I always put them on and wonder why I never wear them. Then I put them back in the box in the closet and forget about them until the next time I clean. No more! They're too fabulous!

This is the first one. It has these fabulous black feathers dangling from the front.

I remember discovering these when I wanted to go to Las Vegas to see Dita Von Teese perform and thinking that this would be a great hat to wear to that event. I didn't go, but I do need to wear this somewhere.

And this is the second one. It has the same mesh, but this one is bejeweled and is suited better to the daytime.

I don't really know where these came from. They have just always been in my closet. But they're fantastic and deserve to be taken out on the town.

They stand when I walk through the neighborhoods.

A long time ago, I told someone that my favorite trend for this summer was anything 1970s. But then I never blogged about this trend. Until now.

As per usual, I am starting off with Jeffrey Campbell.

This is the Spectacular Spectrum Wedge. I thought these were cool -- albeit goofy -- the first time I saw them. Then I heard someone describe them as "1970s gay pride parade, summertime disco." And, that's basically the best way anything could hope to be described. $160

I have also been trawling Etsy and eBay for anything like these:

Well, I celebrated my 21st birthday a few days ago. From what I hear, the party was pretty fantastic.

For my daytime look, I went with sequins and a tiara, as one would do. The problem with this tiara is that it's a little subtle. It doesn't scream "it's my birthday!" enough, so you just look a little weird traipsing around town. Oh, well.

For my going out ensemble of the evening, I changed into a lot of animal print. I have been subconsciously all about animal print these days.

I wore an animal print skirt from Target, a black button-up that I found in my closet, black wedges from Forever 21 and a tiny top hat from the Fairfax High Flea Market.

See, the top hat is animal print!

Of course, the day I try to post an entry after a month of hiatus, Blogger would be down...

Anyway, we're back on track now. As promised, this is part two of my Rock of Love Chic series. Today, we are discussing bows.

I tried this on in a Sanrio store in Hollywood, and it was really cute and comfortable. Which is hard to find in a headband. But Hello Kitty is asking $30 for it. Which is kind of unreasonable to pay for a headband.

I recently found this sweet online store called the Starry Eyed Bowtique that sells a bunch of hair bows in different sizes, from "tiny" to "huge." Above is "medium." They come in headband, snap clip and alligator clip styles, and they're pretty inexpensive. This one is $16.

As for me, I've already begun my collection.

I picked up these ridiculous accessories at Hot Topic. Where else? I am really digging the small glittery bows, as they also incorporate my love for glitter.

I picked up this headband at Claire's. Where else? It's been fun to revisit the stores I particularly enjoyed in middle school for this project.

It's a little late to mention this since the season is long over, but I greatly enjoy the E! show "Married to Rock." I actually enjoy all of those shows -- "Rock of Love," "Charm School," etc.

My favorite "Married to Rock" couple is hands-down Josie and Steve Stevens. They are really adorable. Case in point: she surprised him backstage with a Hello Kitty guitar, which he proceeded to thank her for and play onstage, even though his entire band was horrified.

Anyway. I think Josie is exceptionally awesome, and she has totally had an influence on my style. Never before in my life have I considered enjoying Hello Kitty anything. Now I'm finding myself drawn to pink, bows and assorted cutesy clothing items.

I love her big hair, pink accessories, stripper shoes, ruffles, cutesy jewelry and weird decoupage nails. She has an Etsy shop in which she sells goofy bows and decorated jewelry, but I feel like it's too expensive and would be more fun to make these things myself.

I also didn't mean to bring up "Rock of Love," but since I did, I'm going to give a shout-out to Ashley Klarich, who is also awesome and stylish.

In conclusion, "Rock of Love" chic is on my radar this season.

What are you doing to me, Jeffrey Campbell? I should just buy stock in this company. I should be able to earn frequent-buyer and/or frequent-admirer points toward free shoes. Right?

Anyway, here are some picks for the next Jeffrey Campbell shoes I will become obsessed with:

These are the Rally Wedges in black suede. Look at how tall and how glittery. Can you imagine? I could totally rock these... $198.

These are the beige floral Swansong wedges. I don't even like sandals, and I really don't like open-toed shoes. But these seem so perfect for spring/summer frolicking. I think I'd just like anything if it's got a high enough platform. $112.

And these are the 99 Tie Glitter wedges in red glitter! This style has been around for a while. I actually posted about the 99 Zip wedges a long time ago. But now they come in silver, pewter, red and multi glitter. And I may own a fair amount of glittery shoes, but I don't own any that are red. $139.95.

It's really depressing to be back in Reno just in time for a snow storm after spending spring break in Hollywood. I had a great week, though. I finished the week up by going to see Jay and Silent Bob Get Old in Universal City.

I wore my new dress from Zara. Somebody had run off with the belt that went with this dress, so I took a different one that turned out to be way too big. We had to poke a hole in it with a Swiss Army Knife.

These are my terrible hotel outfit photos. None of the lights worked in our room. I wore the dress with my Jessica Simpson heels and ended up meeting Jason Mewes after the show.

He was my first celebrity crush. I will always love him.

It consists of my H&M dress, Charlotte Russe faux leather jacket and Charlotte Russe boots. Man, I wear those boots 24/7 with every outfit.

I finally found the Jessica Simpson Dany shoes on sale. I almost got them in metallic silver, but I figured that black would go with everything. I really dig them.

They're really high, and the heel just seems really gigantic, heavy and sturdy. If I hit somebody with that, they would be going down.

This is also the first time I've worn my ridiculous Rob Zombie socks. I'm still pretty mad at him for canceling his Reno show, but I guess I've got to move on with my life. I really liked this look. If I had on a little black dress, I'd be ready to go out on the town.

Today was pretty fun. I went to my guitar lesson and drove around town.

Wore my American Apparel 'Le Sac' dress. You're supposed to be able to wear it many different ways, but this is the only way I've been able to successfully execute it. I am also wearing Forever 21 clogs and sunglasses that my mum brought me back from the outskirts of Nevada.

Sadly, Tura Satana died on Friday in Reno. She was so fabulous, I almost can't deal with it. She was amazing looking! And such a badass. And she taught Elvis Presley how to please a woman.

After spending all weekend watching "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" in her memory, it has come to my attention that I really want to look just like her.

I am going to start by finding a way to piece together this fantastic outfit:

Everything about it is perfect. I think I could pull it off. Not quite as well as she does, but I'll work on it. First step: a great new bra and some leather gloves.

I'm also a big fan of her hairstyle. Time to start growing mine out, I guess.

Welcome to my first post of 2011! I've been watching the Twilight Zone marathon all day, and I have two new pairs of glitter-covered shoes to share with you. (I'm sure there are not many people that would be able to say that.)

I got these at Off-Broadway Shoes yesterday and then wore them out for new year's eve celebrations. They are very excellent. I anticipate wearing them to class this year.

AND FINALLY.

My Jeffrey Campbell multi-glitter Litas came right before Christmas. Oh, man. They are beautiful.

As you (should) know, My Chemical Romance's new album just came out! I went down to the mall to pick it up today at Hot Topic. No shame. Well, okay, a little bit of shame.

While I was there, I was coerced into buying a pair of ankle boots at Charlotte Russe. Actually, it didn't take much coercion. They're fabulous.

I would also highly recommend the album. Excellent purchases today.

I made a weird impulse purchase today. I went to the grocery store for some dinner and got completely derailed when I noticed that they were setting up their Halloween display. Needless to say, I came away with a couple of necessities. Like these:

I happened to be wearing these socks, and I thought it made an altogether neat look. Even though these were intended to go with some "sexy" Halloween costume, they completely deserve regular rotation in your wardrobe. Don't you think?

I wanted to introduce you to another one of my fashion icons: Michael Monroe, the lead singer of Hanoi Rocks.

I cannot put into words how unbelievably stylish I find this guy. All of his clothes are absolutely perfect. He knows how to rock bright colors, contrasting colors and neon-- be still, my heart. He also knows how to accessorize and combine excessive fringe with red cowboy boots. What more can I say? I wish I could dress like this all the time.

But, while we're on the subject, the other members of Hanoi Rocks were also quite fashionable and deserve mention.

I would go into more detail, but these outfits speak for themselves. Where do you even find clothes this amazing? This band is also excellent, so everyone should thoroughly be in awe.

Recently got some new shoes. I do this all the time. Because I love shoes.

There was a "buy one, get one" sale at Charlotte Russe (my favorite), so it was clearly fate that I came away with two new pairs of shoes.

And I also scored some plain black heels, which I thought was a good investment.

I started following Karla's Closet a while ago because I saw her post some really neat shoes. Here is her picture:

They are the Yves Saint Laurent criss-cross strap pumps:

However, I was resigned to admire them from afar until last night when I spotted the Parker Wedge on Alloy's website.

While they're missing the criss-cross strap (which is obviously a selling point for the YSL pumps), they do have that cool heel that attracted me to them. And they come in forest green! For only $32.90, I'd say it's a fair trade.

I wore my American Apparel pocket skirt again because it is my go-to, universally-functional black skirt. Today I wore it with a striped tank top that I've had forever, high-heeled sandals from Macy's (that I've had forever) and a new faux leather jacket from Charlotte Russe. It was actually comfortable to wear the jacket when I left the house this morning, but it became so incredibly hot by the afternoon that I couldn't bear to wear it all day.

I have lots of posting to catch up on, but in the meantime, I thought I'd post some shoe inspiration. Here are some shoes that I love because they are covered in glitter and/or excessive amounts of dangly things.

These are Prada's spring 2010 "chandelier sandals," which look like something I would have really enjoyed walking around in when I was little. Actually, I'd still really enjoy walking around in them.

I can't identify these shoes, unfortunately, but I love them and I want them. Desperately. Although something tells me that I might be able to buy plain heels and a bunch of shiny decals to turn this into a DIY project.

Back in January, I was really into those Acne wedges and all shoes that vaguely resembled them, if you can recall. Now, I have developed a new shoe interest that keeps me up at night.

It all started with the Balenciaga harness boots:

In my humble opinion, I don't actually think that these are too terribly attractive. Which is convenient for me because there is no way in hell that I could afford to buy them. But there's something about this concept that intrigues me.

Next, we encounter the Sam Edelman knock-offs, Zoe. These are sold for around $300+ (although I did find some on eBay that I bid about $25 on because I'm a ridiculous optimist, but I lost that auction, naturally). What I dislike about these is how low the segment between the heel and the rest of the shoe is, for some reason.

These are Lucyd Acyd's Witchery Buckle Boots. They cost a little over $70 and certainly are appropriately platformed, but I am just not thoroughly sold on the weird faux pony hair.

Finally, these are the ones that I really want! They were being sold by this online shop-community called Vestiges for around $50. However, by the time I decided that I couldn't live without them, they were sold out of the really high ones, so... what's the point? And, usually, when I could find these shoes for sale, the largest size they carried was an 8, so it is unfortunate to be me.

Well, nonetheless, these are the shoes that I currently am on the lookout for, so I'm hoping that the perfect ones come along one of these days.

Hey! I have not posted in over a month. I am quite sorry. I am finished with school now, though. For the summer, at least. So I'll be sure to take better care of this blog.

That being said, I did take some pictures ages ago that I never posted!

This is an outfit that I wore to a picnic in the park with my friends (Sam took the second picture!). It consists of this skirt that I'm pretty sure I got for a penny or something at Wet Seal and a Marilyn Manson (of course) t-shirt that someone gave me. I think it made a neat combination.

And another! This is a dress that I hadn't worn for years, but I threw on a cardigan and some boots, and it turned out very nicely, I believe.

There you have it! I promise I'll try updating more frequently from here on out.

So, my friend Jen and I were talking, and we've decided that we're going to bring back spats. I have had the desire to bring back spats for years because I'm a big Some Like It Hot fan, which makes me want to become a 1920s gangster.

This movie is fantastic and I highly recommend it for numerous reasons. I've included these pictures to help illustrate how fantastic it is! In the last set, you'll see the antagonists of the movie, including Spats Colombo and his spats. He is very thoroughly badass, and a valid reason to think spats are awesome.

My theme for March is using Photo Booth to photograph my accessories while wearing a heavy metal t-shirt. Today, I'm posting about the rings I've been wearing as of late.

I made a point to run out and get the gold two-finger cross ring for three dollars at Forever 21. And then I found myself at the arcade, spending my skee ball winnings on a plastic dollar sign ring (and a purple slinky, but I digress). When I put them on together, it looked like I was making commentary on the relationship between capitalism and Christianity in American society. I suspect Marilyn Manson would approve.

And this is the only other ring I wear at all. Why wear jewelry if you're not going to make a political statement, right?

My heart-shaped glasses arrived Saturday afternoon (all the way from Hong Kong, apparently)!

These pictures are not the highest quality, but the sunglasses are exceptionally cool. I was slightly concerned that these would look too Marilyn Manson on me, but if I had been worried about that, I probably should have stopped a long time ago.

Yeah! And, I miss spring break already. I hardly knew ye.

It's officially spring break! I just recovered from some weird losing-my-voice-for-three-days thing, and, even though it snowed a little a couple of days ago, it looks like we'll have some good weather in our future. Ready to par-tay.

In preparation for good weather par-taying, I have chronicled my favorite pairs of sunglasses.

See, I think it's important to have an array of colorful sunglasses because they really add a splash of color to your sweet Poison t-shirt.

The pink ones are from Charlotte Russe, the black ones are thrifted by my mother, the yellow ones are from the Fairfax High Flea Market and I do not recall where the red ones are from.

Today, we had that freak hailstorm that I was talking about. Nonetheless, I finally wore out the H&M dress that I got this winter. I have been excited about this outfit for months. I borrowed a jacket of my mother's against her will and wore it with some shoes that she gave me last year.

My mother also took these pictures and suggested that I stand on top of an unstable broken tree.

It's a good thing I have such a terrible shopping addiction because I always have fabulous new shoes to write about! The latest being:

I now officially own two pairs of shoes covered entirely in glitter... Awesome! I had my eye on these Forever 21 glitter boots for quite a while, but I decided to go for it this weekend and they arrived in the mail this morning. It's really fun ordering things online for me because you get to open the package like it's your birthday. I was concerned about them because I didn't get to try them on and, since they were on sale, they can't be returned. But they fit marvelously, look fantastic and are quite comfortable.

Hey! The weather has been fabulous for the past two days, so you can bet that I am taking advantage of it before we have another freak hailstorm or something.

The neighbors were definitely watching me traipse around the yard with my camera, so I took pictures quickly. I look a little goofy, but I should be used to that by now.

I wish I had worn different shoes because I had to climb over a fence to get into a cemetery for one of my classes and they were filled with quite a bit of dirt, but, whatever. They were discounted at Old Navy because my good friend Angelo is a respected Old Navy employee. My mother recently gave me this shirt, so this is its debut. And that's what that is all about. Look at the weather! It's almost time for me to start complaining about the heat!

Hey! As promised a short time ago, here is my most recent shoe purchase:

They're fabulous studded ankle boots! I had been lurking them on the Journey's website for a long time because, although they were on sale, I was hoping they'd go on sale a bit more. But, by the time I went down to the actual store, they weren't out on the shelves anymore. Luckily, though, I knew exactly what they were called and who made them (due to the website stalking, of course) and someone was able to find them for me. I can't wait to wear them for real.

This week has been rather busy, so what better to do than waste some time posting an outfit! This is what I wore today to meet with a group from my literary nonfiction class to work on our Edward Abbey project. And it's raining!

I really like bright colors. And mixing obnoxiously bright colors. I didn't photograph what I'm wearing under the jacket, but it's just a black tank top. The black tank top and black boots from Target help even out the turquoise of the jeans and the neon green of the jacket, I think. Pretty sweet colors overall, I'd say!

It just suits us well.

Welcome to February, everyone. Since I had plenty of time to spend watching Marilyn Manson videos over and over, I figured that I should take some goofy pictures of the Manson-inspired outfits I've been traipsing around town in.

Yesterday, I wore this lovely ensemble to work because I was able to see the sun, finally.

I told you these pictures were goofy. This is because I start work around noon and do not get home until one or two a.m., which is when this photoshoot took place. Also, I am naturally goofy-looking at times.

This outfit is composed of a Target dress that my grandmother bought me when my luggage was lost at the airport and my orange Doc Martens. Basically, I was trying to recreate the vibe of classic Twiggy Ramirez.

And that's what I'm up to these days. I also bought some new heels that I'll excitedly post about soon!

Well, classes certainly have started up again. It also certainly is snowing again. And, if you put those two factors together, you will come to the conclusion that I am walking to school in extremely unpleasant environments.

Just thought I'd update for the sake of updating in order to emphasize that I haven't forgotten and I will be posting some exciting outfits once the weather will allow it.

This is what I looked like today: pink striped polo shirt, black jeans and my off-brown (I have never known how to describe this color) jacket complete with Watchmen button straight from last year's WonderCon.

I'm hoping for attractive-outfit-appropriate weather sometime soon! Stay tuned.

Alright! As I have been promising for weeks, without further ado, here are the crazy shoes I recently purchased (no regrets!):

You may recognize these as the Jeffrey Campbell Alexa wedge booties that I mentioned in my last post. They are tremendously comfortable despite not looking it at all, which really characterizes my favorite type of shoes. I try not to wear outfits out of the house without being willing to experience a crazy emergency situation -- up to and including the zombie apocalypse -- in them because you never know what can happen on a night out on the town.

I hope to get a chance to post again soon, but classes at my university have officially started as of today. Also, it's snowing again! I am displeased with this development. Anyway, I'll update [hopefully] very soon!

For many months, I have had a huge thing for wedge booties. As you know, I desperately love outrageous platforms and heels, so these are right up my alley. It all started with the Acne wedges:

Upon seeing these shoes for the first time, I came to the conclusion that they were (a) unbelievably attractive and (b) out-of-the-question expensive. However, I was not deterred as the style became rather popular and many more options surfaced. Observe:

These are Dolce and Gabbana/suede/even more expensive, but they're not thoroughly bad-looking, right?

I then noticed these Jeffrey Campbell 99 Zip Wedges that were dramatically less expensive. Now we were starting to get somewhere.

These are called "The Dancer" by Illex Kinni, although they are not my first inclination when thinking of dancing shoes. However, they are fantastic and I really love the blue lining and little side bows. Tempting, I must say.

And then, when all hope was nearly lost, I stumbled upon the Jeffrey Campbell Alexa wedge booties. Why, Alexa, has no one told you that you are a dead wringer for the Acne wedges? And far, far less expensive? And the answer to my prayers?

Let me just say that I may have purchased one of the aforementioned pairs of shoes. And I do not regret it because I love them, they are fabulous and we all are entitled to a few extravagances now and then. ♥♥♥

I am back home, finally, after a most excellent vacation! And I come bearing a shoe post!

I bought both of these shoes before I left town from the shoe clearance rack at Charlotte Russe, which is swiftly becoming my favorite place to shop. They always manage to have one pair of amazing shoes, just in my size, for extremely low prices.

I was thrilled to find these fabulous blue heels, as blue heels were high on my list of Items I Must Have in My Wardrobe for a few months. And these were six dollars. Six dollars. They're tremendously high, but the fact that the front is also on a platform makes them much easier to wear when walking. I wore them with red tights to a play and managed to walk all over Santa Monica Boulevard in them with ease.

Now, these fabulous gold glitter heels came into my life back in October. They have much less platform than the blue heels but make up for it by being covered in gold glitter. They are the absolute definition of the word "fabulous." And these suckers cost eleven dollars. I have yet to wear them out, because one must have a fantastic opportunity to debut such golden shoes, but I'm sure their time will come.

Also, have you ever noticed how difficult it is to take a picture of the side of your own foot? It's pretty difficult and I will be enlisting some assistance in the future. And, if you click on these pictures, they will get humongous and you will be able to count the specs of dust on my floor. I hope you don't do that. My next outfit documentation will be far less pitiful. Stay tuned!

I fully intended to post something else before I left for winter break adventures, but alas. I am somewhere in Orange County at the moment. We've been running around California, and we're planning some fun in Las Vegas/Area 51/Santa Anita race track for the coming days. I bought some fabulous, extravagant shoes in Hollywood that warrant their own post at a later date.

Back in Nevada, I left behind some terrific snow, freezing fog and black ice. It seems like a different world, man. I'm going to the beach! Anyhow, these are some pictures that were taken by my friend Sam before I headed out of town.

As you can see, I was in the habit of wearing my orange Doc Martens every day, as it was the only way to wade through the snow whenever I left the house. And I finally had to switch up the jackets I was wearing to make use of my red raincoat as I artfully reclined in Sam's bathtub and held a guitar. As one would do.

So, I'm glad that I previously mentioned that I'm into cartoons because this post is going to be about some cartoon characters that I find exceptionally stylish. I've been working on compiling a list of the most fashionable cartoons, but it quickly became overwhelming, so I wouldn't be surprised if I posted a "Cartoon Characters, Part Two" entry one day. Anyhow, let's begin! [Click on the pictures to enlarge.]

First up, we have Daphne from Scooby Doo. What I really like about Daphne's wardrobe is the excellent color palette she's working with. Everything centers around predominantly purple pieces and the dark purple is highlighted by light purple and pink. And then the purple color scheme is complimented by her drapey green scarf and bright orange hair. It's just altogether very stylish. I really love the look of contrasting colors, like the dark purple/bright green or dark purple/bright orange, and bright green/orange are some of my favorite obnoxious colors to work with. Daphne is just a fabulous example of contrasting colors at work. And I really love her colored tights. All this, and she solves mysteries too. You are rocking it, Daphne.

Next, here is Judy from Doug. She is another fabulous cartoon character who is making use of the orange hair/purple dress combination, proving that it really is a winner. Judy is always very cool, accessorizing with a beret and sunglasses. I like that her outfit is tied together with black leggings and a black longsleeved shirt, because this is a technique I also use to bring things together. Black goes with everything. If I have two colorful pieces I want to throw together but I also have to wear some other clothes so as to not be naked, I wear black and it somehow all comes together. Judy was way ahead of me.

Alright, so, Futurama is one of my favorite cartoons of all time, so I love Leela quite a bit. While she changes her outfit on occasion (and volumizes her hair a great deal-- jealous), she is generally wearing a white tank top, black pants and boots, which she rocks. She doesn't ever look like she's lacking any color because she has purple hair, which I wanted to use to point out the technique of using one colorful piece to stand out in an otherwise black-and-white outfit. Leela is also here to transition from the all-purple cartoon characters to the ones that all wear large boots. You'll see.

So, of the characters on Recess, [Ashley] Spinelli and the Ashleys are the most stylish. Spinelli is such a badass. She totally knows how to expertly give a feminine dress-and-colored tights combination a tough look with a short leather jacket and clunky black boots. This look is awesome. And, the Ashleys! I love that each Ashley has a specific color that their outfit is coordinated around. I particularly like Ashley A's sort of business-casual look with the pink blouse underneath a suit jacket. And they're all wearing kneesocks. It's thoroughly fabulous.

Danny Phantom is a cartoon that really has a good overall look/color scheme. All of the ghosts have the weird turquoise/silver glow going on, and they all have really neat green eyes. And when they're not ghosts, there's still a lot of black/purple with boots going on. Danny's friend Sam [on the left] demonstrates some more fabulous colored tights with large black boots. And the ghostly villain Ember [top right] shows off some excellent makeup-- with purple lipstick! This entire show is really visually pleasing. And action-packed. Check it out.

Alright, so, this is the character Daria as she was on Beavis and Butthead, an absolutely marvelous work of cartoon genius by Mike Judge. Daria was a smart, sarcastic girl in the boys' class at school who was not a terribly big fan of theirs. Throughout this course of action, she wore lots of black shirts and leggings under colored skirts and cardigans. She also employs the large boots, round glasses and leather jackets. This paved the way for...

The actual cartoon of Daria. Here, she's a lot more developed into her own person, rather than just serving to balance out Beavis and Butthead being ridiculously stupid. She's still got her big black boots and round glasses, though. And her friend Jane is also very fashionable on this show. Instead of reusing the colored tights with boots and a skirt, Jane wears black tights and shorts, and tops her outfit off with dark lipstick and an oversized, colorful coat. Awesome!

These have been some of my favorite cartoons to serve as fashion inspiration, and they each illustrate some of my favorite looks and techniques for creating interesting outfits.
